We recently had the pleasure of helping transform Simcoe’s Farm, a beautiful traditional timber property, with a complete installation of Residence 9 windows and doors.
The homeowners originally contacted Shirestone Windows hoping their existing timber windows could be repaired. Unfortunately, after inspection, the windows were found to be beyond economical repair.
With maintaining the character of the property a priority, we introduced the homeowners to Residence 9 — a premium timber-alternative window system designed to recreate the traditional appearance of timber while offering the performance and low-maintenance benefits of modern PVC-U.
Maintaining the traditional character of the property
After viewing a Residence 9 sample, the homeowners decided it was the ideal solution for the renovation.
The project involved the installation of
25 Residence 9 windows along with a set of Residence 9 French doors, allowing the original timber windows to be replaced without compromising the traditional appearance of the farmhouse.
The windows were specified in
Painswick externally and Chalk White internally, with gold pear-drop handles providing a sympathetic finishing touch.
All of the products were mechanically jointed to enhance their authentic timber-style appearance and fitted with 28mm glazing units, combining traditional detailing with modern levels of performance.
A timber look without the maintenance
Residence 9 is particularly well suited to period and heritage-style properties where retaining traditional character is important.
Its design takes inspiration from traditional flush timber windows, making it possible to achieve the appearance homeowners want without many of the ongoing maintenance requirements associated with timber.
Robbie Stone, Managing Director at Shirestone Windows Ltd, said:
“It’s fantastic to see this beautiful heritage property restored to its former glory. Choosing Residence 9 windows means the aesthetic of the property has remained, while the homeowner can benefit from the performance of a modern window system.
“We’ve enjoyed working with The Residence Collection on this project and hope to do so again in the future.”
